about

WKDTS 66

In line with the first digital release "Intuitive Music"( whykeithdroppedthes.bandcamp.com/album/intuitive-music-3 ) we are now launching a second digital edition.

Musica Povera 1 is the DVD audiovisual project MUSICA POVERA (2017)
realized by performer-composer-soundman P-ART. Look at: partweb.net/MUSICAPOVERA/musicapovera.htm ‘MUSICA POVERA’ derives its name directly from the arte povera movement.
On this new digital audio album Musica Povera 2, P-ART releases ten new music tracks together, created with his intuitive-organic approach.

1. Big Box Music (2023) 4:34
P-ART holds a large empty cardboard box upside down. Intuitively and stimulated by the sound and the resonance produced at the bottom of the box, he strums and rolls with the fingertips of his right hand a real musical landscape.

2. Pen speaks music (2005)10:21
In close contact with the writing paper, P-ART's pen moves over the surface. The pen drawing that gradually takes shape produces fascinating writing, rubbing and drawing sounds. The composer gets the upper hand in the visual happening.

3. Dripping Music (2023) 3:44
An ordinary bucket with splashing water on the bottom becomes the sound box of a leaking gutter. Musica Povera at its best. For the observing and recording composer, this extremely dynamic sound phenomenon is a surprising musical experience.

4. A Chair Speaks (2005) 1:39
While sitting on an antique chair, composer P-ART discovers new wonderful timbres and rhythmic developments of the sound producing through subtle physical interaction and interventions. P-ART plays this real-life instrument ina musical way.

5. BM (2022) 1:51
An ordinary bread maker can be a great ‘musica povera’. The bread maker of P-ART delivers a complete sound world with all musical parameters in action.

6. Animali Musicali di Luna (2002) 1:58
is part of white art boxes that P-ART produced in 1994. One of these boxes is filled with dozens of glowing little moon animals, actually mini nickelplated pins that are soldered to a printed circuit board (IC). Hesitantly, firmly, streamlined or individualistically, they search for an escape into the lunar landscape. The aesthetic battle of these glowing lunar creatures evolves into an intriguing audiovisual parade. The audiovisual performance (2002) is included in P-ARTs DVD
"White as Piano" (NTCS 2015). Exclusive listening without viewing, the movements of the moon creatures in the white box stimulate our imagination very well.

7. CLOCK MUSIC (2019) 8’41’’
P-ART captured the sound of his ticking wall clock, which surprisingly varies in percussive sound and timbre. As if the clock behaves here like a living being that demands the attention of the “composer” (in the broadest sense), is completely happy and is doing its utmost to impress and fully express his presence as a sound autority for the first time, to participate in the sound process. P-ART positions itself no more but also no less than as an active witness to a unique sound development. Due to the even rhythm of the tapping sound, CLOCK MUSIC has a very therapeutic effect for many.

8. ENAMELA (1990) 6:27
P-ART composed Enamela using ‘sound on sound’ with varispeed on his vintage tape recorder Revox B77. Three new small pots of paint (black, blue, red) wobble and bump into the hollow of the composer’s
hands. Instead of focusing on the structural progression with classical mind, you need a completely unconventional way to listen to the
tonality of this piece. Composing Enamela is a primary act of musical recognition that doesn't require much effort: the unpredictable interaction of overtones in his hand sound box energizes P-ART to make it happen.

9. MUSICA PAELLA (1984) 21:58
Paella is prepared in a paellera, a black pan with a low sloping wall. An empty paellera held in a handle is a feast for the ears with its deep dark metallic sound. All parameters of this percussion sound object create a dynamic sound palette.

10. ACCORDION PRIMI (2023) 4:39
In an unusual way P-ART extracts sound processes from the first mini-accordion from his childhood – intuitively and experimentally. This audio track of P-ART dates from June 16, 2023 in the art lounge of SFIEMA (Vienna).

BIO
Paul A.R. Timmermans (aka P-ART) Belgian instant composer and curator of "The P-ART Projects".
P-ART is a multi-artist: contemporary piano, sound objects, installations, sculpturing synth sounds, intuitive sound performing, microtonal music, instant compositions on tape, MIDI-files, HD recording, audio CDs and audiovisual DVDs.
His first self-released Meta LP (1983) is a unique and innovative collector’s item that showcases P-ART’s experimental approach to music. Whether he plays a synthesizer, a balafon, a piano or sound objects, the P-ART approach to musical creation is the same: “For me, an intuitive composition is an organic process in which the music is thrown into my lap, as it were. Spontaneously without a written plan. Only then the path will open itself in an authentic way to me, the instant composer. Whether a real composition is developing or not, it cannot be predicted or conducted by myself. It happens. I take the same approach when creating my multitrack recordings track by track, I call it meta polyphony.”
Since 1999, P-ART launched its artistic paradise online (http://partweb. net/PARADISE/parindex.htm) and its P-ART Family (Web of Artists).
These artists affiliated to P-ART are engaged in the same wide field of new music and contemporary arts. With personal contributions to the P-ART WEB of ARTISTS. All selected artists belong to the virtual P-ART family, all together and completely free. Look at: p-artweb.net/P-ART/P-ARTWEB/index.htm
P-ART performed solo impro concerts in Leuven, Brussels, Gent, Rixensart, Tielt-Winge, Heerlen, Osnabrück, Svendborg, Vienna etc.
