about

WKDTS57

Since 2019, I have occasionally put out so-called Imaginary 7" releases. The concept of the Imaginary 7" is borrowed from Radio Free Midwich. The short medium of the 7"is perfect for swiftly exploring two sides of an idea, with A and B hopefully complementing each other. Frankly, it's too good a format to limit to the physical world, was the thinking.

Now though, this material can be enjoyed on actual vinyl, via the on-demand-dubplate efforts of Why Keith Dropped The S. For this compilation, the A-sides and the B-sides are all grouped together, making a new context for these highly contextual tracks. Contents include a remix of a comrade, an observation of popular music in the field, a rapid-fire multiple-homage, a mangling of popular music in the computer, and an exploded memory of a return visit.

Thanks to Daniel Gregory, whose 'Kebab Shop Will Sell Ice Cream' was the source material for 'Bab Sho'. Thanks also to the various other artists who are sonically or conceptually alluded to. And thanks to Joeri for actualising these imaginings.
